As a casual reader, this book dragssss on. The main character really ends up being the house and the plot of land it sits on which can feel tedious as people come and go. If you’re looking for a casual read with a moderate to quick pace, this is NOT it.

If, however, you want a book with literary depth and prose to blow you away, definitely invest the time. The characters (including the house and land) are expertly written and the stories tie together with masterful attention to detail. Read it, annotate it, read it again. Absolutely stunning work.
